Education
In her education projects, Laura creates a teaching environment that offers space for exploration and challenges for an investigative attitude. In her classes she encourages students' self-reliance by actively involving them in working in transdisciplinairy, practice based research communities. Laura views the process of making art and design as a form of research. Either exploring the individuals' own creative concepts, workprocess, or doing in-depth, embodied research into a social theme. Laura is facinated by the tensions that arrises between humans and the (more-than-human) environment. And how technology plays a role in this.
Besides teaching painting and drawing, art history, artistic researchmethodes, material- and concept development, she has taught about posthumanism, transhumanism and AI in art. She recently started focusing on art and ecology, and the isues concerning biodiversity and living together with other-than-humans. Students view Laura as a respectfull, caring and comitted teacher, with a fair sense of humor .
Educatie
In haar lespraktijk creëert Laura een omgeving die ruimte biedt voor, en uitdaagt tot een onderzoekende houding. Ze stimuleert de zelfredzaamheid van studenten door hen actief te betrekken bij transdisciplinaire, praktijkgerichte onderzoeksgroepen. Laura beziet het maken van kunst en design dan ook als een vorm van onderzoek. Of dat nu gaat om het verkennen van ieders persoonlijke creatieve concepten, het werkproces of het doen van verdiepend, belichaamd onderzoek naar een maatschappelijk thema. Laura is gefascineerd door het spanningsveld dat ontstaat tussen mens en de (more-than-human) omgeving. En hoe technologie daarin een rol speelt.
Naast het geven van teken- en schilderles, en lessen gericht op kunstgeschiedenis, artistieke onderzoeksmethoden en materiaal- en conceptontwikkeling, heeft ze ook over posthumanisme, transhumanisme en AI in kunst gedoceerd. Recentelijk richt ze zich op kunst en ecologie, en de vraagstukken omtrent biodiversiteit en het samenleven met 'anders-dan-mensen'.
Studenten waarderen Laura als een respectvolle, zorgzame en betrokken docent, met een gevoel voor humor.
Laura geeft op projectbasis les op verschillende Academies in Noord-Nederland. Ook geeft ze individuele of in kleine groepen kunstlessen en creatieve coaching. Mail gerust voor meer informatie.
